​                                                                                                                                                              Biography of Sukhrob Otaev
The village of Rumon, located in the Bobojon Gafurov district of the Sughd region, has long been celebrated for its poets, painters, and masters of the arts. Among the distinguished sons of this land, Sukhrob Otaev holds a special place, having left a vibrant mark on contemporary Tajik culture. ​Early Life and Musical Foundations ​Sukhrob Makhkamovich Otaev was born on July 11, 1981, into the family of the renowned hafiz and People's Singer, Makhkam Dadoboevich Otaev. He spent his childhood and youth between his native Rumon and the city of Guliston (formerly Kayrakkum), where he graduated from secondary school No. 14 in 1998. ​His father served as his first mentor. As early as the 5th and 6th grades, Sukhrob began mastering the synthesizer, fueled by dreams of the big stage. ​The Rise of "Shifo-boys" ​Sukhrob’s professional career began in 1999 when he and his brother, Shukhratjon Otaev, co-founded the art group "Shifo-boys." The artist quickly developed a signature performance style characterized by a multilingual repertoire. Early compositions such as "Dumala," "Anora," and "Joni Man" rapidly gained popularity across the region. ​Artistic Style and Public Acclaim ​Sukhrob Otaev found his true calling at the intersection of modern pop and traditional folk music. His creative breakthrough came from breathing new life into old folk songs through contemporary arrangements. This approach led to a series of triumphs in 2004, including his major hits: • ​“Ay Shukhi Diloroyam” • ​“Adoyat Meshavam” • ​“Khushdomanjon” ​Achievements and Awards ​As a versatile creator, Sukhrob excels as a vocalist, composer, arranger, and music video director. His professional milestones include: • ​A prolific catalog: Over 250 songs and 8 studio albums. • ​"Pride of Sughd" (Iftikhori Sugd) Award: Received in 2006. • ​Honorary Title: "Excellence in Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan" (Sazovor-i nishon-i "A'lochi-i farhang-i Jumhurii Tojikiston"). ​Personal Life ​The artist is married and is raising two sons, Mehrob and Bekhruz. Following in their father’s footsteps, both sons show a keen interest in the arts, continuing the creative traditions of the Otaev family.
